ANOTHER birthday outing

i’m not a horoscope girl but if there’s one thing that i do know, it’s that water signs are superior. 3/4 of my best friends are water signs so that’s gotta mean something (pisces/scorpio supremacy but not the men and also not march pisces except amy and thuy). but come pisces season, every weekend there’s a new outing or adventure to be had. and this week of course was no other than amycheeryolo’s birthday (don’t ask a lady how old she is, and also don’t read it off her cake!!!)

anytime we have an amycheeryolo event (tea parties, half birthdays, and full birthdays) there is ALWAYS a theme/dress code. saturday, march 1, 2025 was a night for cannibalism, vampires, and memento mori “remember you must die”. SO BASICALLY MY PERFECT VIBE (i am the queen of black, darkness, and skeletons if you didn’t know and my childhood dream was to be a vampire… and it still may be..) i slacked and didn’t get a full fit check but you’ll get the vibe.

shout out jorgie’s friend brittany from tracy, i hate cake but her cake was fire. @bakerforte on instagram ❤

ANYWAYS, let’s get this show on the road. obviously when we go out to eat with amy, the food is phenomenal and delarosa downtown is no exception! we did have a little beef with them regarding our reservations/cake (cause they’re slow as hell) BUT i wanna go there everyday.

to start i obviously had a paper plane (bourbon, aperol, amaro, and lemon juice) truly only because they were out of the winter pyrus (i think that’s what it’s called but i guess it disappeared off all menus since last night) BUT… she was still amazing. *edit: i found a photo on google maps and the winter pyrus is bourbon, chicory syrup, spiced pear, and arangiu liqueur*

let me tell you guys something: i’m not an appetizers girl UNLESS i’m with amy or there’s mozzerella sticks… my weakness. if you come to dela rosa: GET THE ONION BREAD AND BROCCOLINI!!!!!! i could become an appetizer girl for dela rosa alone. first off the onion bread was like eating the most perfectly crispy yet soft pizza crust. i’m not one for balsalmic and vinegar like i’m not one for a lot of things but that was the most beaitifully paired concotion of the night. plus i love onions; onions make everything better. don’t get me started on the broccolini. you know how most of the time when you order broccolini you bite into it and its hard to bite off and just kinda tough all around even though it’s literally just tall broccoli? well this was crunchy and it bit right off as well as it was BEAUTIFULLY seasoned with peppercini and garlic. garlic also makes everything better.

now what you’re really here for: the food. everyone else at the table got a margherita pizza paired with a funghi misti pizza withfontina, crimini, portobello, and thyme with a white base. you guys obviously know not to ask me about mushrooms because more often than not i am staying away. but that’s just another thing on the list for me to work on. ANYWAYS the margherita pizza on the other hand… i stole 2 bite of amy’s… FIRE, PHENOMENAL, 10/10. every thing about it was perfect especially the crust. maybe dela rosa just knows how to do bread? me on the other hand, i got the ziti with chicken parmigana…. once i learn how to cut a good chicken cutlet it’s OVER for everyone because i’m recreating this bad boy everyday as soon as it’s possible. to me the best part with the chicken because she was perfectly crusted and there was the perfect chicken to pasta ratio. one thing i would do different though is use a ridged noodle so that it holds more sauce but that’s just me and i am a saucy girl. one of my biggest regrets in life is amy and i getting our to go bags mixed up when i dropped her off at the bart station because i dreamed of that pasta. but i will say when i found out i was at work and i just ate a slice cold because i was starved and that shit STILL hit. dela rosa is a hit in my book. the day they get a vodka sauce I’M THERE.

the staff there is silly because they loved amy’s cake so much that they took it away from us while we were taking pictures so that they could take pictures. and then on top of that it took like all six of them to figure out how to cute the cake. and my favorite part is when our server asked if we were gonna sing happy birthday and we were all debating amongst ourselves and he just yelled “LET’S DO IT” and ran away but the look in his eye was so crazy it was hilarious and i loved him.

after filling our somachs we obviously had to do a quick 8 minute walk down the street and a right turn away to walk off our dinner and make space for drinks to end the night at shelby’s rooftop. let me just say that wearing heels in san fransisco and vegas are two very different things. i wore the same heels i wore in vegas FRESH out of the box with no issues for hours everyday in the city for a short night out and i walked less than a mile and man was i slow and i thought i was gonna get a bunion and mama can’t get ugly feet. back to shelby’s. we were fortunate enough to be sat outside and even more fortunate that they had not one, but two heaters right next to us. also their couches were comfy as hell and since obviously you’re on a rooftop in the city, they have blankets. not to mention the view is nice and unobstructed :D)

you could also see the salesforce tower and all the taller buildings if you look the other day but im a slacker and didn’t take a photo. but it’s so good you have to see it/go for yourself. leon apparently is a veteran of shelby’s and he was lucky enough to be sat outside on the fourth of july and watch the fireworks… sometimes i am jealous. leon also taught me that i don’t like filthy martinis. i think maybe i’m fake because i only drink fruity or floral martinis and i don’t even know if they qualify as martinis, i just put them in martini glasses and call them that. i tried a pornstar martini for the first time though.. thank you amy.. and HOLY SHIT i thought tht i didn’t like passionfruit but that drink was like an elixir sent from heaven. but i was a classy and cold woman so i obviously had to warm up with a nice temparnillo. i don’t remember much about it because it wasn’t that memorable but it was good because it wasn’t super sharp and i’m not a lover of sharp reds. i can’t remember for the life of me what cocktail everyone else got but i do know that when i tried them all there wasn’t one that i didn;t enjoy so if you’re ever in the city and have free time you should definetely do the dela rosa/shelby’s rooftop combo.
