you guys obviously know i love tutu’s passionately and i’ve been counting down the days until tutu’s switches back to their regular degular summer menu because i am SICK of this damn winter one. i actually have no idea when the switch back is being made or if it ever will go back because it’s been so sunny and warm and yet there’s still winter lasagna and no creamy pesto on the menu.
anyways, one of amy’s clients tried telling her that tutu’s menu went back to our old and loved one so we HAD to go try and score some summer corn pizza. i had just gotten back from hawaii the day before and i don’t know if i told you guys or not but we were on our skinny girl shit and did not eat in hawaii. as soon as i breathed californian air, i was STARVED. FAMISHED even!!!! so it was only right that we go to my favorite patio to eat at my favorite restaurant.
we finally wised up and looked at the menu before being sat because we couldn’t let ourselves get too hyped up (we definitely were too hyped up). low and behold, WINTER MENU. we walked out of there so fast. IT’S LITERALLY BEEN SINCE LIKE OCTOBER!!!! non winter month to non winter month with a winter menu is diabolical. tutu’s please give us girls what we want.
the silver lining of this was that we always always always say we need to try out one of the spots across the street because we always watch from the outside looking in but never from inside the club. so today march 25 became the day we expanded our horizons.
the lafayette public house appeared to be closed so we did a 180° turn and went into the hideout. by the grace of god we got the last non-reserved table on the patio so that gave them like 20 brownie points from the jump.

i’m struggling to find the exact cocktail menu but the cocktails were amazing. i had some sort of sangria but get this…. IT HAD HENNESSEY which i guess makes sense because cognac is a kind of grape. which makes me think… is the heem just more aggresssive, evil wine?? think about it, it either makes you freaky or violent which to me is a cracked up wine drunk. miss amycheeryolo loves cucumber so she got a cucumber water (cucumber infused gin, citric sour, and soda. you guys know i’m not a cucumber girl but a refreshing cocktail is a good cocktail in my book.

now for the real stars: honey fried chicken and chicken pot pie. i have never in my life had a chicken pot pie because it seemed like it would be too creamy for me but i kept watching videos of people making and eating some and oh my god every video i watched they looked so damn good. she was made with carrots, potatoes, celery, onions, green peas, herbs, roux, cream, and a phyllo dough crust. i guess that phyllo dough is also what they use to make baklava and other flakey pastries and let me just say something… that crust was the star of the whole show. i wish i could have the pot pie exactly how it was plus a side of the bread by itself. also the pot pie was FAT. miss amy got the honey fried chicken and i was so happy because that was my other contender of the day.. but she lost. i was so lost in the sauce with my pot pie that i didn’t even ask amy for a bite. live and you learn baby. you know what though, i would’ve hated the mashed potatoes and gotten double kale.

and finally, our last round of cocktails. i can’t remember what amy got but she looks fancy as hell. and i love to try everyone’s new york sour but they tend to fail me. this one was sitting just at ok. no one compares tro kramer and the closest anyone has ever gotten is me (obviously) and the bartender at tallboy.
anyways i’ve been thinking about the hideout a lot and their menu only seems to get better because it already changed in the less than a month that i have been there but oh my god it sounds so good. maybe they’ll be our new winter tutu’s alternative.
thank you lafayette for all the hidden gems.
UPDATE: as of april 2, 2025, tutu’s on instagram said theyre counting down the days until the menu changes. CHANGE IS COMING PEOPLE!!!!!!!
